What are the best cafes in Barcelona with free wifi?

TosTao Coffee (Satan’s Coffee Co.)

best coffee shops barcelona with wifi, tostao coffee at casa bonay

Highlights:

  • Lots of seating
  • Great coffee
  • Chic setting
  • Plenty of outlets

Downsides:

  • Sometimes noisy
  • Seating isn’t very comfortable

Location: Eixample

Can’t decide between a minimalist coffee shop with natural lighting or an elegant, cozy ambience? You won’t have to choose with TosTao Coffee at Casa Bonay. You can work in their modern cafe with a view of Gran Via de Les Corts, or wander into Casa Bonay’s restaurant for a more intimate feel. Both areas are filled with digital nomads and freelancers, so make sure to arrive early to snag your seat.

Syra Coffee Poblenou

Highlights:

  • Amazing coffee
  • Great coworking vibe
  • Good prices
  • Vegan milk is free!

Downsides:

  • Really uncomfortable seating
  • Lack of outlets
  • Very busy

Location: Poblenou

This is another one of the best cafes in Barcelona, if you live in Poblenou, this is the perfect coffee shop to work. They have a free cafe space and then a large coworking area that you can pay to use. I only used the free area, but it was exactly what I needed, they let you stay for hours and have great specialty coffee. They also don’t charge extra for vegan milk which I love.

Saga Coffee Storiesโ€”Casp

Highlights:

  • Stylish design
  • Good food

Downsides:

  • Coffee isn’t great
  • Expensive
  • Limited seating & outlets

Location: Eixample

Looking for an upscale, tasteful coffee shop? Look no further. Saga is a great pick if you want a luxe atmosphere, even the bathrooms feel like a spa experience. But I will say that the coffee doesn’t live up to the prices, so just know you’re coming here for the vibes not the drinks.

Faborit Cรฒrsega

Highlights:

  • Great value for money
  • Lots of outlets
  • Outdoor seating
  • Healthy food

Downsides:

  • Usually very busy & loud
  • Cafeteria vibes

Location: Eixample

When I need to work for hours and eat lunch, I usually go here. I love their lunch menu (salad bar with juice, smoothie, or coffee) and they have pretty comfortable seating with outlets. Plus, there’s natural lighting and even outdoor seating. The only downside is that it gets really packed during the lunch hour.

Pro tip: download their app & get a free coffee and other discounts ๐Ÿ˜‰

Laie Llibreria Cafรฉ

Highlights:

  • Great brunch
  • Plenty of wall plugs
  • Lots of seating
  • Beautiful terrace

Downsides:

  • Very busy & loud
  • Coffee is not good

Location: Eixample

This is a beautiful place to work, with cozy indoor seating and a beautiful terrace for those hot summer days. During your work breaks you can enjoy a meal at their restaurant, explore their incredibly book collection, or just soak up the natural light in the outdoor area.

Liadisimo

liadisimo coffee shop barcelona spain

Highlights:

  • Great tea
  • Outdoor seating in a beautiful garden
  • Lots of seating

Downsides:

  • Limited outlets
  • Okay coffee

Location: Sant Gervasi

Liadisimo is a little gem I found in Sant Gervasi, a quiet neighborhood in Barcelona that doesn’t attract many tourists. The customers were mostly Catalan/Spanish; I didnโ€™t see any other digital nomads working while I was here. I normally donโ€™t like being the only one working at a cafe, but the staff was so friendly that I felt comfortable staying a while. They also have a beautiful backyard garden with tables.

The Miners Coffeeโ€”Via Augusta

Highlights:

  • Delicious specialty coffee
  • Lots of natural lighting
  • Modern, cute design

Downsides:

  • Expensive
  • Seating is divided by “laptop-only tables”

Location: Sant Gervasi

This is ideal for those living in Sant Gervasi or Gracia who want a vibey coffee shop to work for a few hours. And I highly recommend their espresso tonic, it’s so good!

Santagloria Coffee & Bakery

santagloria coffee and bakery, places to work or study in barcelona

Highlights:

  • Good food
  • Lots of space
  • Plenty of outlets
  • Warm, cozy design

Downsides:

  • Bad coffee
  • Fairly loud and busy
  • Wifi’s very slow

There are a couple of different locations, but my favorite is on carrer de pau claris because it’s honestly huge and has so many people working on their laptops. Their toasts and pastries are yummy but be prepared very subpar coffee. Also, the wifi honestly sucks so only come if you have a hotspot or don’t need strong signal.

Frizzant

Highlights:

  • Cozy environment
  • Lots of outlets
  • Great coffee
  • Healthy food with vegetarian & vegan options

Downsides:

  • Limited seating
  • Pricey

Location: Eixample

Located right next to TosTao Coffee, Frizzant is a yoga studio, vegan haven, creative space, and cafe all wrapped in one. It is on the expensive side but well worth it for the chill atmosphere, specialty coffee, and friendly staff. Plus, you can hop downstairs and take a yoga class or attend a cacao ceremony after finishing your work. Just beware that seating is very limited for laptop-workers.

Cafelunya

Highlights:

  • Easy to take meetings here
  • Lots of seating
  • Plenty of outlets

Downsides:

  • Coffee isn’t great
  • Overpriced

Location: Eixample

If you are okay with cafeteria vibes and aren’t a coffee lover, Cafelunya is a great place to work. You can stay here all day, there is so much seating and plenty of outlets, plus it’s more than fine to take your calls and meetings here. They also have some good sandwiches and pizzas for lunch.

Alice Garden

alice garden coffee shop barcelona free wifi

Highlights:

  • Unique & cozy atmosphere
  • Lots of seating
  • Great brunch
  • Very friendly staff

Downsides:

  • Very busy
  • Limited outlets
  • Often slow service

Location: Eixample

Alice Garden is without a doubt the most unique, magical coffee shop in BCN. It was originally named Pudding Cafe, but they changed the name to fit the whimsical Alice in Wonderland interior design. They have delicious pastries, teas, smoothies, and snacks, and lots of seating options. Also, they built a garden area so you can soak in the sun while you study. One downside is that it gets busy and loud in the afternoon, since many families bring their kids here after school.

D Origen Coffee Roasters

best barcelona cafes, D Origen Coffee Roasters

Highlights:

  • Amazing coffee
  • Good prices
  • Unlimited cold brew for 5 euros (!!)
  • Can take meetings here
  • Very friendly staff

Downsides:

  • Super busy
  • Can only work at the community table
  • Limited outlets

Location: Eixample

It’s pretty hard to beat this specialty coffee shop, the vibes are immaculate, the coffee is amazing, and there is unlimited cold brew for 5 euros. The only downside is this place is too popular, so you’ll have to come early to secure your seat.

365 Obrador

Highlights:

  • Very cheap
  • Lots of outlets
  • Plenty of seating
  • Can stay for hours
  • Good sandwiches and pastries

Downsides:

  • Very loud & busy
  • Bad coffee
  • Not cute (sorry)

As far as Barcelona cafรฉs go, this is the cheapest option where you can comfortably stay for hours. The wifi is alright, there are plenty of outlets, and lots of comfortable seating. This is a chain, so they are scattered all over Barcelona. Whether youโ€™re staying in El Born, Las Ramblas, La Ribera, Lโ€™Eixample, Gracia, or El Poblenou, you will surely have a 365 within walking distance from your home.

Sandwichez

photo: Sandwichez

Highlights:

  • Cheap
  • Lots of seating
  • Can take meetings
  • Natural lighting

Downsides:

  • Wifi only lasts 1.5 hours
  • Bad coffee

Sandwhichez is a popular cafe among digital nomads and students. They have good coffee considering the prices and offer cheap snacks as well. My favorite Sandwhichez locations are Via Agusta, Bruniquer in Gracia, Sant Antoni in Raval, and Passeig de Sant Joan in Sant Pere. These are the best locations because they have plenty of seating and large windows for natural lighting.

Buenas Migas

buenas migas cafe barcelona
photo: Trenchs Studio

Highlights:

  • Lots of seating
  • Can stay for hours
  • Can take meetings here

Downsides:

  • Coffee isn’t great
  • Fairly busy

Buenas Migas is a popular study spot among locals and foreigners alike. They offer a variety of coffees at affordable prices and you can stay as long as you like. My favorite locations are on Passeig de Gracia, Carrer del Bon Pastor, Calle de Mallorca, and Plaรงa de la Universitat. These locations have the most light, seating, and open space.

Vivari Coffee

vivari coffee and bakery barcelona spain
photo: Vivari

Highlights:

  • Very cheap
  • Good amount of outlets
  • Plenty of seating
  • Can take meetings here

Downsides:

  • Lack of *vibes*
  • Bad coffee

Vivari Coffee is a cafรฉ chain similar to Buenas Migas and Sandwhichez. They have cheap prices and plenty of seating, but I find the staff to be generally less friendly and not as many students work here. However, it is still a good place to work for hours. My recommended locations are Gran Via in Poble Sec, Carrer de la Diputaciรณ in Gracia, Santa Caterina in the Gothic Quarter, and Carrer del Dos de Maig near Sagrada Familia.

  5. Thank you so much for this! Passing it along to my husband which works in cafes every day since our toddler doesnโ€™t let him work at home ๐Ÿ˜‚. Do all the places you listed have AC? Itโ€™s really hot right now so itโ€™s a must for us ๐Ÿ™‚ I really appreciate all the work you put in!

    1. I’m glad this list helped ๐Ÿ™‚ I will have to remember to note whether a cafe has AC for next time, because that’s also really important to me. Buenas Migas, Syra, and Vivari are usually not too hot (I’m not sure if they had AC though).
